EQ2 VRS WOW - What to buy?

Its likly that over winter break i'll finally buy one of these games and commit to it for a while....From what I hear EQ2 and WOW are the favorites by majority as far as MMORPG's go...I've only seen EQ2 being played on a friends computer. But I hear many think WOW is better - which I havent even seen a trailer for. Which do you think is better and why? - And have you tried or at least seen both in action?

wait for guild wars, no subscription fee, if you dont know if you'll like it, in like a week or so they start up another open-beta-short-period-of-time

think 3d diablo.. mmorpg.. and requires team effort
