I've been playing IGI-1 again recently on a new PC i just built. Still a really cool game. Its definetly got a better atmosphere than IGI 2, and the plot and levels are better thought out i think. The thing that is so great is you can go anywhere you like over the terrain - they removed that from IGI 2; if you go to far away from the target area, you get warned by HQ then the mission is aborted ... not so in IGI 1. I think i'll go for a stroll .... that-away !
I found a couple of interesting things i forgot in IGI-1 .. in the Get Priboi level where you start in a huge compound and there is a building with guards doing target practice with machine guns ... if you activate the patrol helicopter by climbing the pylon to exit the compound, i decided to follow the helicopter and see where it went ... it ended up landing a little way from the start area, on a slope which it slid down - i jumped on board and shot the guard and nicked his UZI ! Also, i had a bit of fun later on in that level ... i thought i'd place trip mines on priboi's car before i blew up the fuel dump. I wondered if they'd go off when the car drove away ... but guess what ! The car drove off, and all the mines were left in mid air where the car had been ! They were still active too, as i found out when i went to have a closer look ... A great game. |
